Hal Uhrig, 75, was charged with solicitation to commit perjury and tampering with or harassing a witness, victim or informant following his arrest on Monday morning, reported News6 WKMG. Republican state Senator Bruce Thompson introduced new legislation challenging the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) decision to allow abortion medication to be shipped by mail instead of requiring patients to pick it up in person, the Associated Press reported. Senate Bill 351, also called the “Women’s Health and Safety Act,” would require pregnant women to see a doctor in person before receiving the abortion pill, mifepristone. Thompson said he believes it’s too risky for someone to receive an abortion pill without seeing a physician first and a medical provider should be involved when making the decision to terminate a pregnancy....

Mark Jones, formerly of the Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit, was accused of trying to influence a police officer’s and crime victim’s testimony, as well as offering bribes to prosecutors. AP reported that the jury deliberated all of Friday and for an hour on Monday, eventually reaching a guilty consensus on five of his nine charges. However, Jones had already accepted the plea deal. As part of the deal, Jones must serve one year in prison and four years of probation, as well as pay a $1,000 fine....

The deputy was supervising a jail housing unit. As he was doing his rounds inmates noticed the officer looked unwell. He later collapsed at his desk in view of some inmates, smashing his head. Prisoners began banging the doors to create a cacophony of noise, in an attempt to get outside attention and garner help for the officer.
