Genshin Impact boasts a large community of dataminers and leakers with many of the game’s new characters and areas often being teased and revealed weeks or even months in advance of their release date. The upcoming Ayato Kamisato saw plenty of leaks related to the character’s gameplay and constellations and further leaks have revealed names and visuals of characters whose release could be several months away. Now, with 2.6 set to release on 30, fans are getting the first inkling of what’s to come in Genshin Impact’s Version 2.7 as Hoyoverse officially revealed Yelan and Kuki Shinobu.

Genshin Impact officially revealed the two characters through the game’s official Twitter account Monday morning with Yelan and Kuki Shinobu seeing their first official art revealed. The first of these announcements introduces Yelan as a Hydro character acting as a member of Liyue Harbor’s Ministry of Civil Affairs, a prominent organization in the city. Yelan has been the subject of numerous leaks leading up to her reveal with data from the game’s beta testing revealing her as a Bow user and suggesting she may be more fitted to a Support role with low DPS.
While Kuki Shinobu hasn’t seen the same quantity of leaks as Yelan, she holds a connection to a particular character already introduced to Genshin’s roster. The announcement tweet introduces Shinobu as an Electro character acting as the deputy leader of the Arataki gang, the gang led by Genshin Impact’s Arataki Itto. Initial rumors about the two characters suggest that Yelan will release as a 5-star character and Shinobu will be a 4-star with the latter featuring alongside either Yelan or possibly a re-run banner during 2.7.
While characters are a major part of the leaking community with many new characters being teased far in advance, new areas and locales are also a major focus for Genshin Impact’s leaking community. The Chasm saw several leaks before its reveal and further leaks have suggested both a new region of Mondstadt coming soon and the highly-anticipated addition of the game’s fourth nation, Sumeru, likely during the summer. While many will likely change and shift before their inevitable release, 2022 is looking like an eventful second calendar year for Genshin Impact.
Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
