Ayaka, the younger sister of Ayato, has become one of the most iconic parts of Genshin Impact’s Inazuma roster since her release alongside the Japan-themed region last July. She plays a major role throughout the early segments of Inazuma’s main storyline and has become a popular meta choice as a DPS character. Now, a new animated trailer shows off scenes from the character’s past and even hints at the moment she received her Vision.

The “Tsubaki in Thawing Snow” trailer released earlier this week frames memories of Ayaka’s family and the Yashiro Commission around a sparring session with her brother Ayato. Scenes from the trailer show Ayaka playing shogi with her mother and frolicking in a field of blossoming flowers with Ayato and their parents. As the trailer themes itself around Ayaka “awakening from her dream” and aiding her brother with the duties of the Yashiro Commission and their clan, the training fight between the siblings comes to its thrilling conclusion with Ayaka receiving her Cryo vision as she bests Ayato in a duel for the first time.

Many fans have drawn comparisons between the launch trailers for Ayaka and Ayato with the characters sharing not only similar fighting styles with their swordplay but excellent gameplay chemistry between the two. The newest Ayaka-focused trailer also heavily features Ayato and the relationship between the Kamisato siblings with the duel coming as Ayaka sought to relieve Ayato of some of the burden of being both the Yashiro Commission leader and the head of the Kamisato Clan.

With Ayato’s banner wrapping up earlier this week, many Genshin Impact fans have already turned their attention towards the future with plenty coming down the pipeline for the breakout hit RPG. Hoyoverse has already revealed Yelan and Kuki Shinobu as the next characters to join Genshin’s roster in 2.7 and recent leaks have teased fans with more details about one of the game’s first Dendro characters, Collei, expected to arrive alongside the Sumeru region this summer. A plethora of new characters on the horizon will ensure Genshin Impact fans are treated to plenty more of the game’s spectacular animated trailers.

Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
