Yun Jin had previously been revealed as one of the newest characters joining Genshin Impact during last month’s Game Awards 2021 event, where she was briefly teased at the end of a trailer for the massively popular adventure RPG. The character is a well-renowned opera singer within Liyue and plays a major role in the progression of the 2.4 update’s new main quest, joining the Traveler and Shenhe as they aid Ningguang in rebuilding the Jade Chamber which had been previously destroyed. Now, a new trailer fully details how Yun Jin plays in Genshin Impact’s newest version.

The newest video in Genshin Impact’s “Collected Miscellany” series of trailers gives players a full rundown of Yun Jin’s kit. Yun Jin’s adventure passive gives her the chance of receiving double rewards for cooking stamina-related dishes while her abilities deal Geo damage and buff her allies based on Yun Jin’s own defensive stats. The trailer emphasizes Yun Jin’s playstyle as being reactive and careful, using her Elemental Skill to defend and counter enemy attacks, before using her Elemental Burst to go on the offensive.

The Collected Miscellany trailer blends an in-depth look at Yun Jin’s gameplay with revealing several elements of her personality and backstory, similar to Genshin’s typical stylized trailers for new characters. The trailer gives an insight into Yun Jin’s character, sprinkling in tidbits of the character’s backstory and personality. Yun Jin takes many elements of the stories she tells through her opera and performances from the stories told by people within Liyue, an aspect that comes into play with her role in the newest main story quest featured in Genshin’s 2.4 update.

Yun Jin is the most recent member of Genshin’s rapidly growing cast with the game typically adding two to three characters with each new update. MiHoYo recently confirmed the highly-anticipated release of Inazuma’s Yae Miko in the near future, likely arriving in Genshin Impact’s next update, and fan speculation has been rampant about Kamisato Ayato as one of the game’s next characters. With part of the 2.4 update giving fans the opportunity to claim a four-star character from Liyue for free, Yun Jin will likely be the selection of many players looking to try out the new character.

Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
