Each new Genshin Impact update includes two banner cycles that offer a different set of limited characters. These cycles also have a Limited Weapon Banner that usually has the signature weapons for the featured five-star characters as well as five four-star items, one of each weapon type in the game.

Both Acquaint and Intertwined Fates cost 160 Primgeoms which means that players usually have to gather a lot of them to acquire a five-star character. Luckily, Genshin Impact’s gacha system has a pity mechanic that guarantees a five-star drop within 90 wishes and a four-star item within 10 wishes. While Primogems can be bought in the in-game shop, the game also allows players to gather a decent amount for free by participating in various activities such as completing quests, exploring the world of Teyvat, or clearing the Spiral Abyss floors. Reddit user CelestiaBoss has shared an infographic revealing all the upcoming free Primogems that can be gathered throughout update 3.4.
The main reason why the upcoming Genshin Impact update will feature more Primogems than usual is the fact that it will include the Lantern Rite Festival which is one of the most important annual events in the game. A lot of fans claim that they’ve run out of Primogems over the last couple of months as the recent updates were stacked with strong characters like Wanderer, Nahida, and Nilou. The Dendro Archon Nahida broke multiple revenue records including having the highest number of pulls within a regular banner cycle.
However, recent sales reports have revealed that this record could be broken by Raiden Shogun and Kamisato Ayato who are part of the current double banner. As usual, the easiest way for players to gather a large amount of free Primogems is by finishing the four daily commissions which are fairly easy to complete.
While some fans claim that Genshin Impact should’ve put the two new characters named Alhaitham and Yaoyao on the second banner cycle, so they can gather enough Primogems for their release, others have praised HoYoverse’s decision to feature them on the same banner. This will allow players to acquire both characters by wishing on the same banner.
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
