Genshin Impact players can explore the massive open world set in the region of Teyvat, with seven continents, each ruled by a different God. Naturally, traversing the vast landscapes of Teyvat can be cumbersome, so many gamers choose to fly to their destinations. Other times, Bounce Mushrooms can be beneficial for reaching higher areas in Genshin Impact. These special mushrooms launch the player high into the air, and the height increases if they are activated using Electro. Rarely, Bounce Mushrooms can lead to unpleasant experiences, as one Genshin Impact player found out.

Reddit user Grimnoir shared a video on the Genshin Impact subreddit showing their unfortunate experience with a Bounce Mushroom. The video shows them playing as the Cryo character in Genshin Impact, Yae Miko, when they’re flying at a significant height. During their flight, they spot a bunch of Bounce Mushrooms below and dive to land on one of them. The user expected the mushrooms to absorb the fall’s impact, causing a safe landing, but that’s not what happened to Grimnoir’s Genshin Impact character.
As the user fell from a great height, the Bounce Mushroom failed to soften their landing, ultimately killing them due to fall damage in Genshin Impact. While most Genshin Impact fans on Reddit were surprised to see this incident, many offered theories as to why the original poster died instead of bouncing back into the air. Players argued about game physics, and some pointed out that landing on a Bounce Mushroom causes fall damage, which is proportional to the height. They also mentioned that fall damage is only negated when Genshin Impact players bounce up from the Shroom on other surfaces. Hence, Genshin Impact gamers should be wary of falling on them from greater heights, as Grimnoir’s character died despite landing almost at the Mushroom’s middle point.
It should be noted that the Bounce Mushrooms seen in Grimnoir’s video are a particular variant from “The Measure of a Mushroom” Daily Commission in the Sumeru region of Genshin Impact. Genshin Impact players must consecutively jump on five such Bounce Shrooms to complete the challenge, leading to exciting rewards like Primogems, Mora, and Mystic Enhancement Ores.
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
