However, while the new update has not even arrived yet, the game’s official social media accounts have already announced the arrival of a long-awaited character for update 2.8. Each Genshin Impact update has its own beta phase, which reveals most of the content that should arrive over the next couple of weeks.

Shikanoin Heizou is a new four-star Anemo Vision holder and the game’s first male Catalyst. However, even though he is a Catalyst user, Heizou is not a ranged character as he prefers close combat. A recent video posted on the popular Genshin Impact Leaks subreddit has revealed an interesting video of Heizou fighting against a group of enemies. The game’s beta phase allows spawning as many enemies as needed, which is probably how the player managed to group 15 Hilichurls.
The video posted by Reddit user Junnielocked shows that Heizou has great potential when fighting against a large group of enemies. His elemental skill, Heartstopper Strike, allows Heizou to launch his enemies in the air dealing Anemo damage. Holding this skill will make him charge energy before unleashing a much stronger attack. Heizou’s elemental burst, Windmuster Kick, will cause Heizou to jump and kick, dealing AoE damage in the process.
The official Genshin Impact story has revealed that Shikanoin Heizou is a popular detective who works for the Tenryou Commission. While he was previously rumored to be the first Dendro character in Genshin Impact, it seems as though HoYoverse decided to equip him with an Anemo Vision. When it comes to his release date, multiple leaks have already confirmed that he will arrive as the first character for Genshin Impact Version 2.8.
However, players still have to wait for a number of weeks in order to acquire this unique four-star character considering that Genshin Impact update 2.7 has not even arrived yet. Version 2.7 has been delayed for three weeks due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation in Shanghai. Previous rumors have been hinting that the upcoming update could be shorter than usual in order for the game to go back to its usual update schedule. This would not come as a surprise considering that HoYoverse probably wants their special occasions like the anniversary and the summer event to arrive on time.
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
