Assuming the established six-week schedule continues, Genshin Impact 3.4 should be set to arrive on January 18 next year, and details surrounding it keep manifesting. Sumeru, an already huge region, is due to receive an expansion, ushering in a new area of the desert for players to explore. A world boss accompanies this “Sandstorm” location, which will have to be farmed if players wish to ascend Alhaitham, one of the new characters confirmed to be making their way to Genshin Impact. Yaoyao is another, a long-anticipated addition to the roster that was made known to the community back in 2020. Despite what seems to be HoYoverse attempting to better contain spoilers about future content, reliable leakers have seemingly confirmed the second-half banner that players can expect.

Made known by credible leaker Yukizero and corroborated by the SaveYourPrimos Twitter account, a Reddit post summarizes what players can expect with the second-half banner for Genshin Impact’s 3.4 update. Reruns for Hu Tao and Yelan, as well as their associated weapons, are expected for the second half of 3.4, causing comments to be simultaneously ecstatic and devastated. Most were particularly excited about the weapons on offer, Staff of Homa and Aqua Simulacra, both highly desired five-star items that boast Crit Damage scaling.

However, current and upcoming banners for Genshin Impact are already proving to be incredibly profitable for HoYoverse, who recently published the first-week sales for Wanderer and Itto. Despite the Dendro Archon Nahida and pyromaniac Yoimiya collectively breaking revenue records only a couple of weeks ago, the first half banner for 3.3 has established itself as a competitor, generating $17,433,165 in China alone.

Hu Tao’s last banner appearance was over a year ago, making this the prime opportunity for new players and those that missed out. A fan-made list was published earlier this year noting that it had been nine updates since Hu Tao had been featured as part of a banner, the longest length of time for any character. Fortunately, update 3.3 will include almost 10,000 free Primogems for players to earn, making the journey to obtain acquire these popular and powerful characters at least a little less costly.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
