Developers at miHoYo may be working on new skins for existing Genshin Impact characters according to a leaker known as Project Celestia on Twitter. This leaker has previously accurately reported leaks like Noelle and Diona’s Hangout event image, name cards, and new characters like Yanfei in the past.

Project Celestia is a leaker that has gotten facts straight in the past and this time they’re suggesting that Genshin Impact characters such as Barbara will be getting brand new costumes. These costumes are similar to new skins in games such as Apex Legends, Call of Duty, and Overwatch, offering the same character with the same skills in a brand new aesthetic. The new costumes Project Celestia leaked ahead of release are the Sea Breeze Dandelion for Jean and the Summertime Sparkle for Barbara.

Known Genshin Impact leaker Project Celestia was quick to point out as part of the costume leak that these skins are currently subject to change and both the Sea Breeze Dandelion and Summertime Sparkle may look drastically different upon release. Genshin Impact is known for many things, among them, character design is an important aspect of the free-to-play title that makes it stand out. These new costumes being added to Genshin Impact will make players feel like they can express themselves through their in-game avatars a little better, though only a handful have been teased through this leak. Barbara will be exchanging her dress for a sailor’s uniform in her style, while Jean’s new outfit also belongs on the beach.

These costumes were datamined from the latest available Genshin Impact client and can be verified by other skilled dataminers. Developers at miHoYo have yet to confirm whether or not these leaked skins represent an influx of new costumes coming to Genshin Impact or if they’re just releasing for Barbara and Jean to start. Considering there are thirty characters on the Genshin Impact roster, it’s likely that some characters will have a higher demand for new skins than others, but miHoYo may consider releasing one for each of them in order to appeal to mains of each character.

While Project Celestia has gotten Genshin Impact related leaks correct in the past, it’s always important to take leaks with a grain of salt before official confirmation from miHoYo.

Genshin Impact is available right now for Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and PS5.
